Well, I have to say the sight of Palo Duro Canyon is beautiful. But I have to also say that I really don't like the park's policies. Just because my teardrop trailer has a power cord I was forced to camp in a 50A RV site to the tune of $25 a night. Not Cool!
I am currently set up just north of Albequerque NM. I hope to put a few faces to some of the names I have known on the FTE website for years. Travel plans were to head to the Grand Canyon Sun. but the forecast is for 20-35 MPH west winds. My truck really doesn't like strong headwinds. Might have to stay here till Mon.
I'll try to get the pics of Palo Duro up tonight.

Well the great adventure has begun, spent 3 days having a ball with friends at Beavers Bend State Park in OK, now in Ardmore to visit the inlaws. Tommorow I'll head west to Palo Duro Canyon State Park, south of Amarillo TX, for a day or two. Besides a few pics I took at the teardrop gathering, there's nothing in the way of pics yet.
I'll try to update this blog and my pic site at least once a week, that is if I'm at a location with wi-fi :

Wow! How time flies when you're having fun.
The main reason for creating this blog is to document my upcoming trip to Alaska starting in March 2012. So much to do and so little time left. Finally made it to the post office to apply for a passport....a simple process and $70 later I'm waiting for 4-6 weeks. Need to finish a few small projects on my truck, clean out the clutter in my teardrop and start getting things packed.
Itinerary so far is to make a teardrop gathering at Beavers Bend Park in OK, March 23-25th, and from there head west until I hit water and turn north till I run out of road. A few "must sees" along the way include Grand Canyon, Death Valley, Yosemite, Sequoyia, Redwoods, Crater Lake, Golden Gate Bridge........ and anything else that catches my eye along the way. This will be one of those great adventures with no set schedule or route... just a destination.
Much more to come later, I promise :)
